YOUR GUIDE TO FLEET TERMINOLOGY
Mobile Resource Management
The combination of traditional telematics and GPS tracking with route optimisation and work order management; plus mobile solutions for your workers out in the field such as: Electronic forms, driver coaching apps, commercial navigation, electronic logbooks and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR); all on a single platform.
Fleet Management Solutions (FMS)
Fleet management solutions are tech/telematics solutions aimed at improving efficiency and productivity whilst reducing costs in fleet operations. These solutions vary in nature including vehicle tracking , fleet optimization, workforce management, green & safe driving, business integration, mileage logbooks, navigation and traffic avoidance.
Connected Fleets are commerical and passenger fleets utilising connectivity, telematics and software to collect data from vehicles that will enable fleet optimization, enhanced efficiency and reduced overheads.

The ELD mandate, or ELD Final Rule, is a U.S. federal government regulation specifying that operators of commercial motor vehicles covered by this law will be required to use electronic logging devices, or ELDs.
Platooning comprises a number of vehicles equipped with driving support systems – one closely following the other. This forms a platoon with vehicles guided by smart/connected technology. Seen as a potential boon to fleet management as it promises to improve traffic safety and reduce fleet operations cost.
Telematics Service Providers
Telematics Service Providers (TSP's) offer emergency or informational services via telematics systems in order to improve driving experience, reduce cost adn increase passenger safety. Notable TSP's include Octo, Agero, Verizon, WirlelessCar and others.
