Angela AyersMobility Strategist, Michigan City Solutions at Ford Smart Mobility
Angela Ayers is the Michigan Mobility Strategist for Ford Smart Mobility, where she works with local businesses, stakeholders, public agencies, community members, and Ford partners to identify, build, and launch projects that solve urban mobility challenges, support economic development, enhance local place making, and improve the quality of life in Michigan.
She recently served as the Director of Strategic Policy for Governor Rick Snyder where she led high level policy initiatives for the Administration including infrastructure and the environment. She also served as the Governor’s Deputy Director of Strategy and his Special Advisor on the Environment. She also previously held the role of Deputy Director of the Michigan Office of the Great Lakes.
Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, Ms. Ayers served in the Executive Office of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments where she engaged on regional economic development, infrastructure, and water quality issues. She began her career in government in the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development where she spearheaded the State of Michigan’s efforts combating the Emerald Ash Borer.
Angela holds her M.S. of Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Dearborn and her B.S. in Forestry from Michigan State University. She became a fellow of MSU’s Great Lakes Leadership Academy in 2011 and served as an Executive Coach for the advanced leadership program from 2016-217. She has held various board positions including on the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, the Great Lakes Commission, co-chair of the Governor’s Recycling Council, and as a member of Governor Snyder’s 21st Century Infrastructure Commission. She has also served as a member of the Greening of Detroit Advocacy Committee, Board Member of Michigan State University Forestry Alumni Association and as a member of the Michigan Urban and Community Forestry Council. She currently serves on the board of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Outdoor Adventure Center and as a governor-appointed commissioner on the Michigan Public Service Commission.
