Claudia Rast is a shareholder in Butzel Long's Ann Arbor office, where she chairs the firm’s IP, Cybersecurity and Emerging Technology Group. Her areas of practice focus on domestic and international data privacy and security, data breach response, and technology licensing and protection. Rast is a frequent author on issues of data privacy and data security. She was recently appointed by the President of the American Bar Association to serve a three-year term as co-chair of the Cybersecurity Legal Task Force. Rast received her B.S. from the University of Michigan, and her J.D. from University of Detroit School of Law, where she was the editor-in-chief of the law review. Prior to her private practice, she clerked for the Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, G. Mennen “Soapy” Williams.
