Michelle GallardoDirector, Legal - Global Privacy at Harman International
Michelle Gallardo has been in-house counsel providing legal guidance to senior executives at Fortune 500 companies for more than 15 years. Michelle is globally responsible for legal issues associated with privacy for Harman International Industries, Inc., a Samsung Company. Ms. Gallardo’s work at Harman has focused on providing legal advice related to technologies associated with connected cars, connected devices and enterprise software, including the purchase of those technologies. Ms. Gallardo was also responsible at Harman for negotiating an agreement projected to reach $900M in value and for legal issues associated with a consumer facing mobile application with online streaming. For more than a decade, she has been the primary advisor for either a division or corporate function with more than $5B in annual spending or revenue. At Ford Motor Company, Ms. Gallardo was the sole business law advisor responsible for guiding the leadership of a division of Ford Motor Company generating more than $6B in annual revenue.
Ms. Gallardo has long been a leader within the American Bar Association. In that role, she has worked on national projects designed to increase the gender and ethnic diversity in the legal profession. She was recently a member of the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession where she was responsible for an unconscious bias related project which received media coverage in 13 publications nationally, including Forbes Magazine and the New York Times. Ms. Gallardo is frequently invited to speak nationally. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and was named a Notable Woman Lawyer in Michigan by Crain’s Publications.
