Dr. Shafiq Urréhman received his PhD degree in signal processing and pattern recognition in 2010. He is currently leading of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at CEVT (China Euro Vehicle Technology AB), Sweden. He has 15 years of experience in completing AI/ML projects in various industrial application spreading from mining, automotive, forestry, communication, assistive, medicine and neuroscience. Besides CEVT, he is working as director of immersive interaction lab (i2lab) at Umeå University, Sweden and Associate Professor at Linköping University, Sweden. He has been also guest/ Senior lecturer in UK, China, Japan, and Hong Kong and USA. He is reviewer of several conferences and journals as well as serves a committee member. Main focus of his research has been to incorporate artificial intelligent related technologies in Multimodal interfaces for Intelligent Systems. It includes the designing and implementing machine vision based artificial intelligence (AI) component for common-sense modelling and data driven machine learning methods for cognitive computing to improve usability. In general, his research is on the development of intuitive framework for future technologies by inheriting knowledge from the various sciences such as psychophysics, image analysis, computer vision, machine learning, applied electronics and engineering. As author of several book chapters and international conference/journal papers in recent years, he has been emphasizing of new framework for intelligent technologies to make them richer and more expressive.
