Tom leads the Intelligent Mobility team for FEV NA. This team is part of FEV’s global Intelligent Mobility Business Unit that comprises of over 75 specialist in the arena of Autonomous and Smart Vehicle Mobility. FEV has it’s own 5G Test Track and has supported numerous global OEMS in Europe, China, India and the USA on related projects

Tom will oversee the overall project to ensure best available Industry leading technology and resources are deployed in a cost-effective and timely manner, to achieve best systems solutions, achieve highest quality deliverables to meet program objectives.

Our project provides a level-3 autonomous solution for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) airport shuttle operation. The autonomous control is developed and implemented by FEV and supported by a drive-by-wire kit and integrated with teleoperational capabilities from DriveU. This remote control technology allows a vehicle to be driven by a remote driver that is not physically in the vehicle. The use of teleoperations provides an additional layer of safety and demonstrates the ability to remove the need for in-vehicle driver inputs. Our team's autonomous control and teleoperations technology provide a unique and desirable autonomous vehicle solution that will be developed in Michigan to showcase to the NAIAS attendees that Detroit and NAIAS are the preeminent showcase for future mobility solutions.

FEV will lead the collaborative partnership, whilst also providing a role to advance the field of Autonomous real world driving, Sensor fusion and Equipment Integration; WMU will develop Fault-Tolerant Sensor Fusion and a Safety Plan; Polysync will provide a Drive-by-Wire System; DriveU will provide the Teleoperation aspect of the project.
